It now has brasswork and resin tracks from OKB and I have decals from Star Decals for 12e RCA in Tunisia. This is “work in progress” with much tidying up to do.

Un gros gros travail de détaillage et le modèle de Heller n'a plus du tout la même tête Très beau travail ! Bravo

Beautiful Liam One of my futur project. The question of camouflage does not really seem to have been resolved yet. Because very often the vehicles shown in the photo are very dusty.

Congratulations for your work
I found why the Somua have this camouflage On arrival the Somua were green and brown in Dakar (see Star decal profiles) Before leaving for Tunisia, sand stripes were painted That explains this particular camouflage!

Panzer 172 The Star Decals sheet is definitely still available. I got mine two weeks ago posted to me. S models has many advantages over the Heller kit. Better side hatches, exhaust system, turret shape etc.
Gunner, your model is painted much better than mine. Mine is too dark (I imagined the yellow was the base colour!) and I have spent hours trying to correct that. You have number 10 carrying a red heart on the turret, but Star decals tell us blue for 1e Battalion. Red looks better though!
Also Star Decals have reversed the tricolour on the right panniers. Red/White/Blue. It sounds wrong, until one thinks of the other side of the flag, the blue is always nearest the pole. All photos are black and white of course and I cannot decide.
Quepwik, your links are a great help and explain much. many thanks indeed.
You have all been a great help and I needed the expert advice indeed.
The problem is the interpretation of black and white photos... Depending on the lighting, the blue is darker than the red or the opposite! What do you think of this photograph?
I retained the interpretations of Pascal Danjou who concluded "The important thing is to have fun" ...

Absolutely right. Black and white film of those days did some strange things to colour. The yellow ring around RAF roundels can be black. The tactical markings on 2eme DB vehicles can show the dark blue square as very pale grey and the yellow letter as black.
But you are right. If no one knows for certain we can guess!
