English speakers should get here

OK, most of us can, in French, order a few beers or reserve a table for dinner in Paris, the Dordogne or at least check into our hotel. It is an accident of history that the world speaks "English" (it is West Coast Hollywood American actually).

If you chance on this site by accident, do not dismiss it. The locals are very welcoming (and boy are they skilled).

The emphasis is 1/72 scale modelling of vehicles ( I can live with that, although most my work has been on humans and horses in Vietnam or the Napoleonic Era if 28 or 20mm). I have shown them on wargaming websites (but have never played a wargame in my life. Well those I did in the 1970s resulted in a massacre.

The folk here are enthusiasts and not the hostile people you can meet on wargames fora.

If you do chance across this, please do respond here and let me tell you more. This deserves to succeed

I meant to add the Partajez thing at the top. No idea what Partajez means, but their translate into English works well and it may a raise great laugh occasionally. I had no idea just how bad was Google translate. Tanks become reservoirs, Cuirassiers are leatherworkers and so on. But some of the modelling is superb

Well I must think how to get more English speaking modellers onto this forum. If only because they will be missing out on such fantastic work shown here.

If you do not have a word of French language, then God help you trying to add your work. (Actually inserting text or a picture is really easy. It is the translation with Google that is ....incredible...in every sense)

OK. Tips. This is so easy to navigate. "Partajez",  drop down, allows translation to English. Some kind of English anyway. But to insert anything. Keep it dead simple. If you do crosswords, watch out for double meanings. A tank is a reservoir...OK, we will call it a char de combat. A cuirassier is a leatherworker (every time).

We all live just over 28 miles apart over La Manche. OK, this Brexit insanity, but we should not be separated by the language we speak. French beer, that is different....it can be drunk in a post apocalypse world...maybe.

D'ACCORD. Des astuces. C'est si facile à naviguer. "Partajez", menu déroulant, permet la traduction en anglais. Une sorte d'anglais en tout cas. Mais pour insérer quoi que ce soit. Gardez les choses simples. Si vous faites des mots croisés, faites attention aux doubles significations. Un tank est un réservoir ... OK, nous l'appellerons un char de combat. Un cuirassier est un maroquinier (à chaque fois).

Nous vivons tous à un peu plus de 45 km l'un de l'autre au-dessus de La Manche. OK, cette folie du Brexit, mais nous ne devons pas être séparés par la langue que nous parlons. La bière française, c'est différent ... on peut la boire dans un monde post apocalypse ... peut-être.

Guinness for ever 🥰🥰🥰

Especially today. It is St Patrick's Day, usually a great Irish holiday, but not in 2020 or 2021.

It is also the day that my wife produced twin boys 26 years ago.

I will enjoy a Guinness at home tonight anyway.

It is very strange though, if you do not understand.

I was born in Ireland. I have an Irish passport.

But, my first time in Dublin I thought "Why am I waiting for my draught Guinness?"

The barman came back and poured some more and walked away again. Every time. Three times.

I thought he thinks from my accent I am English and hates me. Then I saw this is how it is poured in Dublin. You just wait. In Amsterdam it is the same with Amstel and they use a knife across the head of the beer.

In Dublin you sit and wait. Thank God I said nothing..........

Today is a national holiday for the month of May.

Our pubs are open, but only if we sit outside.

It is raining hard, there is a gale blowing, it is freezing.
